Care for Puppies & Kittens
It is cause for excitement when you bring a new puppy or kitten home! This adorable new family member can't help but make everyone who sees them smile.
As fun as they might be, there are also some serious health care concerns to take care of over the course of their first year of life.
Your vet will develop a custom health care plan to meet your pet's specific needs during their first year, and provide you with plenty of support and guidance along the way!
Your Pet’s First Appointment
Ideally, puppies should have their first veterinary appointment when they are about 6 weeks old. Kittens should have theirs at around 8 weeks old.
During your pet's first visit, your puppy or kitten will receive a physical assessment form one of our vets to determine their overall health, to look for signs of congenital conditions or disorders, and to check them for parasites.
We will also administer deworming medications for roundworms and hookworms, and the first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations.

Lastly, for kittens, we will perform a blood test in order to check them for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.
Follow-up Appointments
Puppies and kittens should attend between three and four veterinary appointments between 6 and 16 weeks of age. These vet visits will allow us to assess your pet's overall health and to administer the vaccines they require on schedule.
